I thought I'd test the knowledge of our web social group (except Phil B. and Jim S.) by asking for your thoughts on what this flatcar was designed for. Here's a couple of hints:

1) I took these picture today on the Department of Energy Oak Ridge Reservation.
2) This car was used to transport something manufactured here.

I think this would be a great kitbash project especially with the load.
