N-Scale Gathering: November 1

During our KAMRI 1st Sunday gathering us N-Scalers will be having track modification discussions. We are planning a transition from a three track main layout down to a two track main. This is part of our effort to develop better operating scenario's under DCC control.

Phase 1 of this transition will be to remove a high percentage of the outside (#1) mainline. Some of this trackage will be used for passing sidings or industrial spurs. This will require installing 5 additional switches.

Phase 2 will be to add a new yard parallel to the existing yard. This will be the big cost item as this would require purchasing approximately 14 new switches.

Concurrent to the above efforts we will need to inventory the rolling stock and go through a quality inspection. This is to ensure all selected cars will perform equally and with minimum operating issues. At this time we do have extra rolling stock on the layout that is mostly for dispay purposes. However, the quantity is too high and would not allow for good operations.

Hope to see you Sunday!

Bruce
