WGH Count Down!
It's now Friday the 13th and it's only 1 more day until the Worlds Greatest Hobby train show in Nashville.
Lets see, Nashville is on Central time and I'm in the Eastern time zone. It's a 165 mile drive for me at about 74.53 mph and 28.2 mpg. So just how early do I need to get up to gas up, eat, and be at the show by the opening toot? I'm getting older and therefore more forgetful and uh, it's uh, or was it uh, what were we talking about anyway. I just don't have time for this whatever anymore and there's a train show this weekend anyway. It's now the eve of the eve before show day. The car is all gassed up and just maybe I should follow suit to ease these anxious last couple of days. No more excuses as this is my last update to this posting. I'm glad it's finally road trip time in the morning. I was starting to run out of fingers during my countdown. Oh wait I guess that's how it's supposed to work.

Re: WGH Count Down!
Well....
The doors open at 10 am. You should be able to find decent parking on a Saturday morning, though you may have to walk a bit, or pay more (they always bump the prices for parking when there's an event nearby) so give yourself an extra 10 minutes for that. That puts you at 9:50. The trip will take about 2 1/2 hours drive time (conservatively), but the timezone change is in your favor, so you only need to leave at 8:20. But, you will have to turn around and go back at least once to grab your wallet, or your DCC controller or your checkbook, or your coffee, so give yourself another 20 minutes for that. So plan on leaving at 8:00 sharp. Of course, you could always make sure you are there on time by driving up Friday and staying at one of the downtown hotels ;-) But then you would have less money to spend on TRAINS!!!! |

Re: WGH Count Down!
I knew it was going to be complicated!
After all of your explanation and timing it looks like you forgot to include where I'd have to make a return trip back home because I forgot my wife in all my excitement!!!!!!

Considering it is VALENTINE'S DAY, I seriously doubt that she would let you forget her. My question is what is she wanting in return for letting you play with trains all day? |

Re: WGH Count Down!
Life is a balancing act so to ensure equity in our marriage our Nashville trip plan is:
Act I - Trains, Act II - Macy's/Mall Act III - Dinner Act IV - _____! Lets see that's 1 for me, 2 for her, and 1 push. Sounds fair to me.
