N-Scale Gathering: March 2

The first gathering of the month that also brings us spring is a welcome event. The recent museum festival did result in me cleaning up most of my mountain carving mess. I even ran trains around the peninsula reversing loop under said mountains.

Us n-scalers have been asked to loan a small layout currently stored in the museum basement to the SE Regional Train Center in Johnson City. Our club president has placed the respnsibility of this decision on my lap but I'd like to poll you fellow n-scalers on this topic at the gathering.

During the museum festival we were encountering somewhat random uncoupling and derailments. This was not limited to any particular train or ownership. I believe some of the problems were low coupler trip pins and issues with the Atlas accumate couplers. The uncoupling was mostly associated with long trains and the Atlas equipped units just did not have the strength when compared to the Microtrains versions. This might be a lessons leared issue when running trains with various coupler brands that may require running these at the rear of long trains.

We should have numerous topics of discussion for our Sunday gathering.
