Mid-South Fall meet photos
Here are some pictures that we took at the Mid-South Live Steamers fall meet, Sept 28-30.
The first picture is off a beautiful propane fired Central Pacific 4-4-0. It couldn't pull much because it weighs only 200lbs, but it really looks nice. The second picture is of a light 4-6-2 that is propane fired. The third picture is off a Southern Railroad Ps-4 4-6-2, this locomotive was purchased by its current owner in need of a complete rebuild. They have gotten it running, but they had problems with the timing not being set right on it. The fourth picture is of a 3T shay, a 4-4-2, and a 4-6-0 in the steaming bays. The fifth and sixth pictures are of my train. I had a hard time when the track got slick pulling 3 cars with 2-3 people up the 4.5-5% grades. Coming down was also interesting..... The last picture is of my sister driving a good freind's Sw 1200. She had a good time. Although she doesn't much care to drive my steam locmotive or his 4-6-2. She likes the diesels. Hope you enjoy the pictures. - Andrew |

Re: Mid-South Fall meet photos
Great shots and wonderful weather. I wish I could have been in two places at once. The flip of a coin selected a dinner boat trip on the Watts Bar Belle in Kingston. Something to do with our wedding anniversary.
So you had a little downhill momentum issue! Do you still have any soles left from dragging your shoes?

Re: Mid-South Fall meet photos
Yo, Andrew-
Thanks for the photos... those are really sharp locomotives. You're the master of all scales! Maybe I can make the next meet. That looks like fun. Take care, -Phil

Re: Mid-South Fall meet photos
Thanks,
Bruce, actually I was able to stop pretty good. I just started out REALLY slow going down the 5% grade then put the locomotive in reverse and cracked the throttle just enough to get it to slow down. I have train brakes on the gondola and riding car, but I was unable to get the plumbing hooked up on the locomotive before the meet. I hope you had a nice anniversary. Phil, Thanks, I hope you will be able to come next time. - Andrew |

Re: Mid-South Fall meet photos
Boy! I never though about throwing the bugger into reverse for braking. Interesting, very interesting...
