Re: Bigger is Better!

Hey,
Just came across this post. The lead locomotive is a 4-4-2 Atlantic completely scratch built with no castings, it was sold for $32,000 several months ago. Also the atlantic, when being run at the Chattanooga Society of model Engineers' Eagle Point Railroad in Dunlap,TN came into a curve too fast and came off the track. Well the railroad is built on the side of a mountain and the locomotive rolled about 25ft down the slope before coming to a stop. Once it came to a stop, the fire was dumped instantly, and the blowdown vavles opened to release the boiler pressure. The locomotive was not damaged at all though. This locomotive was own by Dwayne Biggs, he has now sold it. He has owned and operated about ten locomotives in the past five years. Although not at one time. The second locomotive is a 2-8-4 berkshire lettered for the NKP. The man who owns and operates this locomotive lives in St. Louis and has built or rebuilt about five locomotives. Go to www.midsouthlivesteamers.org and look at the photo section for more photos.
If you get the chance you should try to come to Columbia,TN for the Mid-South Live Steamers Spring Meet. May 4-6.
