Spring Fling Photo Oddities
T'was on beautiful day in Columbia, TN for the Mid-South Live Steamers spring fling. This was by far the highest attended gathering I have seen to date. Thought I would post what I view as a few of the oddballs I spotted this year. I'll save the many other shots of dozens of steam engines for another day. For all who didn't go you missed a great event! They have scheduled a mid-July public event that I will post details on soon.
Photo 1: The biggest oddball I found was our own club member Andrew. Here he is assisting with firing up a beautiful 4-6-2. Note the electric fan on the stack to help induce a good draft.
Photo 2: How about a doodlebug for a shortline spin.
Photo 3: I guess this is one way to get some of the truck traffic off the interstates!
Photo 4: Now I know how they get some of the heavy lifting done around their empire. I checked under the hood and this is a real working scale bacyrus crane. While poking around in it I also found a matching HO version sitting inside.
Photo 5: What more can anyone say but there is a bit of Goofy in all of us.
