PBS Show "Canteen Spirit"

PBS (Knox area cable channel ETPDT1) is airing a show this Friday evening at 9pm titled "Canteen Spirit". This show is about a small town's effort to support our troops during WWII. The town of North Platte Nebraska is on the UP mainline across the state and was a main water/coaling station for troop trains. The towns people established a free canteen at the UP passenger station for all troops in uniform serving as many as 7,000 a day during their 10-15 minute layover! The story is great but what is also shown is a good deal of passenger steam engines and passenger equipment.:D

I watched an airing on Monday night on the regular PBS channel 15 and I highly recommend watching this show. You can find more information on scheduled air times at: http://www.pbs.org/

All times are GMT -4. The time now is 10:16 PM.
