Layout software for PC

Safecracker and I are looking for layout design software. The free RTS 7.0 from Atlas does not allow flex track and is very hard to use and is limited to available products. When we try to join the ends together all heck breaks loose.

We would like one that would support miltiple scales (HO, S including American Flyer 10"). Not sure if such a thing exists and if it does if we can purchase on limited budget. Any suggestions and/or website links appreciated.

Re: Layout software for PC

There are a number of options in a variety of prices including free. Here are a number of links (hope they work???) I found Googling:

3rd Plan It $125: http://www.trackplanning.com

Cadrail 8 $60: http://www.sandiasoftware.com

3D Railroad COncept and Design $50: http://www.theliquidateher.com

Templot Software $85: http://www.templot.com

WinRail $75: http://www.winrail.com

Sillub Technology $FREE: http://www.sillub.com
I do not have any working experience with any of these programs. Although the highest price, the 3rd Plan It software sure looks good and you can operate trains on your designed layout.

I have been using Cadrail 8 for about a year and think it would be hard to beat for the price. It is a more or less 'standard' CAD with numerous features for track layout drawing.
